Within the Forrest Review there were three housing related recommendations:
-
“Rec 17 - Housing delivery mechanisms to support and encourage workforce participation, optimise transition and mobility to work, and remove disincentives to taking up work.
-
Rec 25 - Remote housing – governments ensure the approach to remote housing on Indigenous land is revised to include performance-based funding to move to a more sustainable system with strong incentives for workforce participation and home ownership
-
Rec 26 - Give traditional owners who want it capacity to convert their land to freehold or leasehold.”.
We are working to give Indigenous people a better chance to own their own homes, especially if it increases their chances of getting a job or helps the local economy.
